About
Born in Tampa, Florida more than a half century ago, Jeff Wetherington only began writing professionally in April of 2004 when a representative from Tribune Interactive Media Services (part of the Tribune Company, parent corporation of daily newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times) offered him the opportunity to write a hyperlocal blog for their website in Orlando after reading the writings on his personal blog.
For 15 months, until July 31, 2006, he provided restaurant, concert, stage play, theme park and venue reviews, as well as political commentary and opinion pieces pertaining to Orlando and the surrounding Central Florida region under the nom de plume of “Man About Town” and enjoyed it immensely. You can review the entire history of the Man About Town writings here.
Beginning in November of 2006 and continuing until December of 2007, Jeff drew upon his enjoyment of the outdoors to serve as the featured writer for Suite101.com’s hiking, backpacking and camping section, and in July of 2007 he was presented the opportunity to indulge his almost life-long love of comic books by becoming the writer of the comic book section for Athena Guides.
In addition, he has published two online travel blogs detailing his trips to Scotland and London in 2006 and to France in 2007.
Happily married to Cindy for the past 13 years, Jeff has two adult children from a previous marriage and two adult step-children, as well as a grandson and three granddaughters. He and Cindy recently moved to their new cabin in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
